Having opened in Fall 2018, our school currently enrolls 191 students in Kindergarten through Grade 6. During the 2025-26 school year, we will expand to include Grade 7. The High School Pathways Advisor will support students and families as they navigate the unique high school matriculation process in and around Providence. This role involves working closely with 7th and 8th grade students and their families to help them understand, prepare for, and find success in entering their preferred high schools, whether private, traditional public, public exam, or charter. The Pathways Advisor will guide students and families through the process of learning about options and selecting preferred schools as well as exam preparation and application submission, where applicable, ensuring students are well-positioned to gain admission or otherwise enter high-quality secondary schools. Further, the Pathways Advisor will develop relationships with local independent secondary schools, generating enthusiasm for accepting our well-prepared Croft students. Finally, this person will play a pivotal role – alongside our teachers – in preparing our students for high school success.The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the Rhode Island high school landscape, including both public and independent school options, and have a talent for relationship building to advocate for Croft students.Key Responsibilities

• Family and Student Guidance:

• Conduct family consultations to identify the best high school options based on each student’s interests, strengths, and needs.
• Educate families about different high school programs, including admission requirements, testing, and financial aid opportunities.
• High School Application Support:

• Assist students with high school test preparation, focusing on exams commonly required by independent and other secondary schools.
• Provide direct support for application essays, personal statements, and interview coaching.
• Organize informational sessions, workshops, and high school tours to give families exposure to a range of secondary school options.
• Relationship Building:

• Develop and sustain relationships with local high schools, creating connections with admissions departments and advocating for Croft students as ideal candidates.
• Work closely with independent schools to understand their admissions cycles, testing requirements, and scholarship opportunities to better support our students and families.
• Transition Planning:

• Partner with high school admissions teams to ensure a smooth transition for Croft students as they enter their new schools.
• Host events and information sessions to help students and families prepare for the academic, social, and logistical aspects of high school life.

Qualifications and Qualities

• At least 3+ years of experience in high school admissions counseling, educational advising, or related roles.
• In-depth knowledge of Rhode Island’s high school landscape and admissions processes, especially for independent and charter schools.
• Strong communication skills to engage and build trust with families and effectively advocate for students.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with educational institutions and support families through the application process.
• Passionate about supporting students in their educational journeys and ensuring equitable access to high-quality secondary school options.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with empathy, cultural competence, and a genuine interest in working with diverse families.
• Collaborative, adaptable, and highly organized, able to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic school setting.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field.
• Current work authorization in the United States required.
