ResponsibilitiesAs a Developer in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, you will be a test developer and innovator who develops, innovates, evaluates, and implements novel/new tests, methodologies, technologies, or products for the laboratory under the intellectual and scientific guidance of laboratory directors and [DT3]. Responsibilities include:

• Actively partnering with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
• Improving existing methods
• Implementing novel technology of proven validity
• Organizing new method validation data
• Preparing data for publication and peer review
• Participating in formal presentations

*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic.**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.QualificationsTo be considered for this position, you much have either:

• Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science and two years of relevant laboratory experience OR
• Bachelor’s degree, a certificate in MLS, and two years of relevant laboratory experience

*A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Other clinical laboratory specialty certificates will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis.Additional Qualifications

• Microbiology expertise preferred.
• Technical proficiency in DNA extraction/purification, RNA extraction/purification, and PCR primer design (short & long range) is preferred.
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology or Doctoral degree (PhD) in chemistry or a biological science preferred.
• Self-motivated
• Highly organized, efficient, and able to work independently exercising strong decision-making skill
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Capable of reproducing a reference method using available procedures without supervision
• Demonstrated analytical and scientific competency with development and/or validation of lab techniques or procedures
• Experience with data collection, organization, analysis and delivery of information
• ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.
