Apply today!DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis is a highly responsible financial position within the Financial Department involving the application of advanced clerical, accounting, and bookkeeping practices and functions. This position is responsible for performing accounts payable and invoice processing duties, to include receiving, reviewing, and posting all invoices in the Accounts Payable system utilizing the purchase order system which includes processing of rents, utilities, assets, and other related expenditures. Work also includes preparing all ACH payments, online payments, manual printing of checks, and direct one-time debits for processing weekly. This position has the opportunity to utilize a specialized skillset to reconcile and prepare Visa payments as well as prepare, code, and post all electronically deducted invoice payments. Additional responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Providing supervisor with an electronic copy of the check registers for review weekly and retaining copy for record
  • Maintaining vendor profiles
  • Maintaining weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payable reporting
  • Performing accounts receivable duties including invoicing for rents, reimbursements, and other income needs, collection, bank deposits, cash receipts, reconciliation, and month end duties
  • Completing payroll processing and related payroll expenses duties to include reviewing, analyzing, and processing bi-weekly payroll for staff
  • Verifying payroll changes to salary, cost center, and employer or employee deductions
  • Maintaining data in payroll system and keeping payroll support files for any future review
  • Preparing and submitting direct deposit transfer files and printing checks
  • Completing payroll related expenditure processing as well as benefits payment processing
  • Preparing payment requests for the payment of benefits associated payrolls
  • Preparing payroll account benefit and tax reconciliations by pay period, monthly, and quarterly for posting to the general ledger
  • Completing necessary reports to process payroll and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports

This position also assists with:

  • Reconciliation of required tax files and state reports
  • Annual financial reports and forms to be reviewed by immediate supervisor and filed or mailed on a timely basis
  • Completing required electronic transfers
  • Monthly payroll account reconciliation comparing to bank statement transactions
  • End-of-year processing
  • General Ledger duties to include journal entries, reconciliation, and depreciation of fixed assets
  • Budgetary reporting and auditing processes

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • On occasion, staff may need to work hours outside of the set work week to complete projects, meet work demands, or in the event of an emergency.

  • Note: This position may be located in Bedford or Somerset. If a Bedford applicant is selected, the position will be located in Bedford. If a Somerset applicant is selected, the position will be located in Somerset. Position must travel to opposing county as needed.

  • Bedford DBHS location is 1243 Shed Road in Bedford, PA.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Fiscal Assistant or three years of work involving the maintenance of fiscal or financial records, including one year of responsible work which involves the application of accounting or fiscal principles and practices; and graduation from high school; or
  • One year of experience in maintaining and reviewing fiscal records and an associate degree in accounting or business administration; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
