Job Ttitle: Graphic Designer and Web Specialist

Description: This is a full-time position that serves as graphic designer and web specialist for various print and electronic publications for the Newcomb Institute. They will work with colleagues to create visually engaging stories about Newcomb lnstitute’s students, staff, faculty, and alumnae. Leads development of new and innovative visual storytelling formats and extends these approaches across digital and print media.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong design and typography skills.
  • Knowledge of MAC and PC computer systems.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and design software, including Adobe Creative suite- InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Spark; Microsoft Office suite- PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.
  • Knowledge of content management systems (CMS)- Drupal, WordPress, or other HTML-based website platforms.
  • Ability to develop communications strategies for multiple constituencies with a flexible, client-focused attitude.
  • Ability to produce and edit videos or willingness to learn these skills independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to set, prioritize, manage, and meet multiple project deadlines.
  • An understanding of communications strategies and implementation across platforms especially from a graphics and images perspective.
  • Knowledge of all types of print production, web design, and illustration skills.
  • Strong general communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with ability to relate and train non-technical personnel as needed.
  • Creativity, reliability, attention to accuracy and detail.

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
  • A minimum of one to three years of applicable experience in digital media, social media, public relations, marketing, journalism, or communications, with proven portfolio.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within higher education or gender-related communication contexts.
  • Master’s Degree in Fine Arts, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
  • Knowledge of Internet-based e-mail delivery programs preferred (ex: I-Modules, Mailchimp, Emma).
  • An interest in gender equity and leadership.
