Description: QUALIFICATIONS: Current Missouri Teacher Certificate, endorsed for the area of teaching for which he/she is employed.REPORTS TO: Building Principal, District AdministrationSUPERVISES AND EVALUATES: StudentsJOB GOALS: To lead individual students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 monthsEVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DISTRICT EXPECTATIONS1. The teacher meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the designated times.
2. The teacher will assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
3. The teacher will be responsible for the proper care of the classroom and all functions, fixtures, and supplies.
at the close of each year, the teacher shall furnish an inventory of school property to the building principal.
4. The teacher prepares effective and appropriate lesson plans and learning experiences consistent with district curriculum and state standards.
5. The teacher uses student performance data to plan instruction.
6. The teacher organizes the classroom environment to ensure that students are actively engaged in learning.
7. The teacher communicates expectations to students in a clear and concise manner.
8. The teacher uses a variety of instructional resources appropriate to district curriculum and state standards.
9. The teacher displays solid content knowledge and makes connections between the content and other parts of the discipline.
10. The teacher displays knowledge of students’ skills, knowledge, interests, and cultural heritage for groups of students, and recognizes the value of this knowledge.
11. The teacher displays solid understanding of the different approaches to learning and uses varied approaches in lessons.
12. The teacher makes minor adjustments to a lesson based on student performance.
13. The teacher aligns assessments with the goals, objectives, and instructional strategies of the district curriculum guides, state standards and assessments, and IEP’s.
14. The teacher appropriately varies methods for assessing student performance.
15. The teacher uses student performance data to monitor the effectiveness of instruction.
16. The teacher records and reports student progress on a regular basis to the district, student, and parents/guardians.
17. The teacher utilizes instructional time effectively.
18. The teacher manages discipline and safety in accordance with the site discipline plan, board policy, and state statutes.
19. The teacher establishes and clearly communicates classroom expectations to students and parents/guardians.
20. The teacher engages in appropriate interpersonal relationships and communicates effectively with students, parents/guardians, community, staff, and administration.
21. The teacher demonstrates sensitivity to cultural, intellectual, and physical ability differences.
22. The teacher collaborates effectively with colleagues and administration.
23. The teacher displays a positive attitude and promotes a positive image of the school and community.
24. The teacher participates in professional development activities and models a commitment to lifelong learning.
25. The teacher adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations for the building and district.
26. The teacher fulfills responsibilities outside the classroom as they relate to school.
27. The teacher utilizes up to date technology as available to meet the needs of students.
