Description: Advertised Job SummaryThe Law School Admissions Recruiter will represent the law school, and in so doing convey current, accurate, and positive information about the student academic and cocurricular experience to potential law students at various stages of their progress through the prospect to student continuum. The Law School Admissions Recruiter serves as a key member of the law school admissions recruitment team. The Recruiter will support the unit’s overarching goals, which generally include increasing applications for admissions, developing the pipeline of South Carolina residents, improving selectivity, and enrolling in an entering class that meets the enrollment goals determined by the Dean. The Recruiter will embody the values of the law school and be guided by the mission, vision, and values of the law school in their work. This position will require travel in and out of the state.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and ExperienceRequires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 4 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
Preferred QualificationsRecent JD degree from the University of South Carolina law school. Engaged student leadership experience in college and in law school. Facility with or the ability to learn database management, data analytics, spreadsheet, email marketing, social media and Microsoft Suite programs. Summer work experience in one or more legal employment settings. Positive working relationships with law school faculty and staff.Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesThe Recruiter will possess strong verbal and written communication skills- speaking, writing, and listening – and be able to quickly and accurately analyze how to convey information that will be responsive, honest, and authentic to the needs and goals of those with whom they communicate. The Recruiter will have strong organizational skills and be able to manage time and effort as finite resources to accomplish an ambitious program of work. The Recruiter will contribute to a cohesive admissions team based on honesty, trust, and mutual respect. The Recruiter will be able to relate appropriately to candidates and family members, as well as faculty and staff of the law school and undergraduate schools. The Recruiter will represent the law school in a professional manner and reflect positively on the mission, vision, and values of the law school. The Recruiter will convey information with diplomacy and sensitivity and maintain confidentiality of information about students and the unit. The Recruiter will be able to follow instructions, collaborate with others, and exercise professional judgement. The Recruiter will have the ability to develop and manage a detailed program or project plan and execute the plan to deliver the program on budget and on time. The Recruiter will demonstrate a willingness to support goals that are consistent with a diverse community. The Recruiter will be comfortable speaking to individuals and to large groups. The Recruiter will display empathy in their efforts to relate the enrollment goals of the law school to the individual’s goals and unique life situations.
The Recruiter must be able to travel.Job DutiesJob DutyRECRUITMENT STRATEGY: Contribute to the design and implementation of the annual admissions recruitment plan for the JD program. Work with the team to identify recruitment opportunities that will further our enrollment goals, then analyze their effectiveness. Manage the messaging with students at undergraduate schools, before and after the recruitment events they might attend.

Job DutyYIELD AND ADMITTED CANDIDATE INITIATIVES: Design, lead, or assist with events that facilitate the exchange of information to enhance the likelihood that admitted candidates will enroll. Identify and secure current law students and student leaders who can speak on particular topics on panels and programs or become involved in message content.Essential Function Yes

Job DutyMESSAGE DEVELOPMENT AND INQUIRY MANAGEMENT: Collaborate with the Admissions Representative to design and maintain an effective system to respond to inquiries from individuals or groups. Collaborate with Admissions and Communications to contribute to the design and distribution of messaging and materials that convey the selling points of the law school to important audiences.Essential Function Yes

Job DutyTOUR AND VISIT PROGRAM: Collaborate with and support the Admissions Representative in the development of a tour and visit program, relying on Law Ambassadors and Student Assistants to lead tours for visitors and groups. Assist in the refinement of a tour script and talking points. Develop materials to evaluate a tour and follow up with visitors.Essential Function Yes
